Baby Carrier Instructions

Scroll down for Ring Sling, Baby Wrap and Mei Tai instructions.

Picara Baby Carriers Ring Sling Wearing Instructions:

Hold sling over arm on the side you want to carry the baby.  Rings should be on the front of the sling with the tail hanging down in front.

Bring sling up and over your head till the rings are in a corsage position and the sling is spread across your shoulder and back.  Make a pouch out of the body fabric for the baby.

Bring baby up high on your shoulder and pull the sling up over their bum.  Baby should be seated in the pouch or have legs frogged up against carrier's body.

Slide baby down into the sling pocket.  Make sure that the baby is seated in the sling and that their knees are spread wide across your body and at a level with their hips.  Tighten the top and bottom rail to help create a pouch if needed.  Loosen the center of the tail if there is not enough room.

Baby should be well supported by sling with a good seat and fabric high upon their back.

Proper shoulder placement of sling and what the back should look like.

Picara Baby Carriers Baby Wrap Carrier

Picara Baby Carriers Baby Wrap Carrier is a long stretchy (one way) rib knit cotton wrap that ties around you and your baby to offer dual shoulder comfy support.  You can nurse, hike, shop and play in your wrap.  This is the perfect solution for long term carrying of a baby up to 25 lbs.

Unroll the carrier, finding the tag placed at the center of the wrap.  Drape the two ends to either side of you and hold the tag at your belly button.

Bring the ends around your back and cross.

Bring the ends up and over your shoulders to the front making an X across your back.  Spread the fabric wide to make it most comfortable.

Bring ends down through waist strap.

Cross the ends to make an X on the front as well.

Bring the ends around to your back again and tie in a square knot.  When tying the wrap leave a few inches space for the baby.  The fabric stretches some, but not much.

Bring baby high on your shoulder and slide their leg into the inner strap.

Slide baby to the other shoulder and bring their other leg into the outer strap.

Spread fabric across baby's back and bum, keeping their knees at an angle to their hips.

Bring the waist strap up and over the baby's body to provide support.  You may need to lift baby up high on your shoulder to bring strap over them.  If strap is too tight, untie wrap and loosen.

Happy baby and mom!

Mei Tai Instructions Front Carry with infant to small toddler

Unwrap mei tai.  The long padded straps are the shoulders and the short, unpadded straps are the waist.

Hold mei tai by waist straps with front fabric facing you and tie around your waist like an apron.

Put baby on your chest with their legs straddling your body.

Bring mei tai up and over the baby.  Drape shoulder straps over your shoulders one at a time.  You'll need to keep hand holding the baby while you do this.

Cross and bring shoulder straps back to the front. Make sure they haven't twisted on the back.

Pull straps tight and bounce baby down into mei tai.  Bring straps behind baby's back for small baby or under their bum for larger baby.

Tie straps in a knot behind baby's back or under bum.  Small baby's need the support of this strap to not slouch down into the carrier.  If you'd prefer to not tie right on the baby's back you can tie off center.

Baby is secure in carrier with top up for head support.  Baby's knees are at an angle with the hips.  Straps are spread wide across mom's back and tied securely in square knots.

Mei Tai Instructions Back Carry with infant to larger toddler

Mei Tai Back Carry

Hang mei tai behind you like you're putting an apron on your behind.  The print you would like to show should be facing your body.

Tie a strong square knot with the straps comfortably spread across your waist.

To put a toddler on your back you can swing them up over your shoulder or scoot them around your waist.

Lean forward to have the baby laying on your back. Reach behind you and bring the mei tai straps up and over your shoulder.  Make sure the mei tai is pulled over the child.

Child should be well supported by the mei tai with a good seat and fabric high upon their back.  Bounce them into the carrier to make sure they are seated well.  Their knees should be bent and at a level with their hips or above hip level.  Make sure your straps are straight and comfortable on your shoulders.

For a rucksack carry bring the straps across your shoulders like a backpack.  You can also cross the straps like an X across your chest.  Bring straps back over child's bum and cross to make an X on their bum.  Ends should come back to your waist and tie there.

Supported Back Carry. Seat child on the mei tai with straps spread.
Set child on the mei tai with straps spread.  Tie the waist straps securely around your waist with child's legs on top of the straps. Bring mei tai up and over your child and your shoulders.

Straighten straps over your shoulders.  Bounce child down into sling so they are seated deeply.  Bring straps over child's bum, cross into an X and bring back around to front.  Tie securely in front.  Straighten straps over your child's legs so there are no pinched areas.

Happy baby and happy mom!
